It kind of blows my brain just how corrupt this is. It can't be real.

In addition to the Republicans you mentioned that are up for re-election in the fall, I'm sure Bill Cassidy wouldn't vote to dismiss it either. He voted for the Iran war resolution over the week and has nothing to lose. The same is true with Mitch McConnell. After Tuesday, it will probably be true for John Cornyn.

Biiiiiig +1 to this idea

Corruption is a big theme in the PA-08 campaign. I wonder if Rob Bresnahan could also be bullied into going along with impeachment. PA-08 is more impacted than Fitz’s district by the Medicaid cuts that Bresnahan supported. I think the idea has promise.

This is an excellent idea. I hope it prevails.

But in a probably petty mode, I think there is something wrong with "less love lost" in the above piece. Wouldn't it be more love lost?

I don't think so? "No love lost" is when you hate someone. So the less you like someone, the less love would be lost.

This makes my head hurt. You must be correct, and I continue to believe your suggestion is good and if taken will produce the results you predict. Bravo!!

my thinking now is that "No love lost" is binary and cannot be quantified.

This is an attractive idea. But I do wonder if it lets the Republicans off the hook in a way that lets them avoid taking Trump on directly and instead lets them focus their rage on the Tsar's minister for the terrible advice he gave Dear Leader, rather than on Trump himself, and thereby regain some cred with the voters ahead of the midterms.

I've never before been a fan of trying to impeach Trump directly, because the benefits of launching a doomed impeachment proceeding never seemed obvious to me. But in this case it would force Rs to take a vote endorsing this act of brazen theft with the midterms approaching, which seems like it might be worth it.

Wouldn’t this wind up being helpful for Republicans in terms of protecting their majorities? Perfect opportunity for their moderates to demonstrate independent bonafides. Might stop the weaponization fund but at the cost of majorities… not sure that is a trade worth making.

I think we might actually get the best possible outcome. A couple retiring/defeated house Republicans will vote for impeachment, delivering a majority, but most of the moderates/ threatened Republicans will not because they are scared of getting primaried by MAGA in 2028.

With you on this one. I only wish impeachment of the Donald was even remotely possible.
